A recent study highlighted the common misconceptions people have when interpreting dog body language. As Dr. Wynne stated, “The whole study was very surprising. The finding, in a nutshell, is that when you show people a video of a dog reacting to something and you ask them how the dog is feeling, they will look at everything you show them except the dog when making their mind up. So people are really bad at paying attention to dogs when it comes to assessing how a dog is feeling — whether a dog is happy or sad.” This significant gap in understanding can lead to miscommunication between dogs and their owners, potentially affecting their relationship. At TM Dog Training, we address this challenge by educating owners on how to recognize and interpret their dog's body language effectively as part of our customized training plans.
Agent K, a purebred German Shepherd that is now around 1.5 years old, came to us as a feral dog in need of rehabilitation. Rescued by a couple in Renton, he was found trying to steal chickens from their backyard after living on his own. Motley Zoo helped us facilitate the transfer of ownership so we could foster him. He showed signs of experiencing abuse, which probably contributed to some trust and body guarding issues. Through our foundational training program, we have been able to address these concerns effectively and manage his reactivity towards other dogs. He enjoys exploring, so we took him to a nearby beach in the Seattle area, where he was able to overcome his discomfort with water and continue addressing his dog reactivity by interacting with a friend's dog. He is currently in the process of being adopted, and we are excited about his new life journey.
We are pleased to assist you with puppy training. Our approach focuses on private training sessions instead of group classes. For socialization, we incorporate our own dogs to facilitate the process. To start, we recommend an evaluation to develop a customized training plan aimed at achieving lasting stability and balance for you and your puppy. The cost for the one-hour evaluation is $100. We currently have availability at 3 PM or 3:30 PM on Tuesday, the 18th. Please let us know which time works for you and whether you would prefer the evaluation to take place at our facility in Renton or at your home.

Meet Agent K, a male German Shepherd approximately 1.5 years old, currently in our foster care program. Over the time we’ve spent with him, we have focused on his training, and he is now ready to find his forever home. Agent K has a strong protective instinct and tends to bond quickly with women. He adores people and is quite affectionate, although he may take some time to build trust.
His favorite activities consist of playing with stuffed toys and balls. He enjoys daily walks, particularly when he has the chance to discover new places.
Agent K is up to date on all vaccinations, and we will provide his health records. He will also come with food and some supplies to help him settle into his new home.
We require that his new owner participate in training with us to learn how to effectively handle him. Once he has transitioned to his forever home, further task-specific training can be arranged. Whether you are an experienced dog owner or this is your first experience, we can tailor the training specifically to your needs.
We have documented Agent K’s progress on our blog and video pages. Feel free to explore these resources and reach out to us if you’re interested in adopting him.
TM Dog Training believes every dog can transform, no matter their behavior, with our programs revitalizing even the toughest cases.
