Success Story

Juliette

Jonathan was referred to us after his neighbors expressed concerns about what they perceived as dangerous behavior from his 8-year-old pit mix, Juliette. She had no issues as a puppy, but began displaying "aggressive tendencies" around 1.5 years old, although never towards people. After she bit a dog while staying with friends, the County mandated that Jonathan have her evaluated by a qualified dog trainer. The trainer was not optimistic about her reform, but noted that she had a "good mouth," indicating she had good control of the pressure she applied. Subsequently, Juliette attacked and injured a neighbor's cat and damaged a neighbor child's remote control car, prompting further complaints from neighbors. Jonathan feared that he might need to rehome or euthanize Juliette but sought help from local shelters and was directed to us. We identified that many of her issues stemmed from a lack of structure and understanding of right and wrong. We provided Jonathan with the tools to manage her prey drive, leading them to rediscover the joy they had lost years ago.

Jonathan says “Tom’s goal is to teach owners how to communicate clearly with their dog. Jules responded quickly to his techniques and is more motivated than ever to please me and behave as directed. Her reactivity is vastly reduced and our walks together are more peaceful and enjoyable for all.”

Thank you, Amythst, for capturing these amazing moments for us to share.

After three sessions and a month of dedicated effort from her handler, Juliette is ready for a trip to California to visit family. She is adapting to the new surroundings, and they are facing new experiences together!
